Spring with Christie Ressel

PureStudiosAgnesKieszChristieResselMar19-23a.jpg

It’s been lovely to finally welcome spring with Stylist Christie Ressel!

Everything is waking up to life and we are coming out of our hibernation mode. It’s always such an inspiring time to refresh your style and your closet. If you’re like me and you’re drawn towards greys and blacks during winter, you’ll like the energizing pop of colour in Christie’s spring outfits.

I’m a big lover of white, so obviously I loved the bright outfits Christie styled for this photoshoot. I especially like how the coral top goes with Louboutin’s soles in the outfit below.

Here are some of the items I realized I truly need to get for this spring after working on this photoshoot with Christie: a new pair of jeans, 7/8 pants, a feminine tank top, colourful shoes and a statement necklace!

I work with Agnes on a regular basis for my photos and she’s made life so much easier for me! Photos were always such a source of frustration for me. Now, thanks to Agnes, they’re a breeze! She sources locations for our shoots, keeps my branding colours aligned in the photos, and always delivers the photos to me so quickly; she’s such a pro! On top of all of that, she’s a complete delight to work with. I highly recommend working with her when it comes to your business; you won’t regret it!

Spring Favourites!

Spring is here and I don’t know about you but for me it’s the perfect time to make some changes & do some shopping! I’m not a shopping addict at all, but when seasons change from winter to spring, I’m always inspired to refresh my wardrobe and my home. Here are some of my Spring Favourites:

DRESS

This dress is not something I would usually try on! I love pairing it with cute pantyhose, hats, it goes great with both jackets and coats. A good reminder to get out of your comfort zone and try something different.

ACCESSORIES

I purchased quite a few pairs of earrings from Simons. I photographed a very stylish Realtor Lara Stasiw a few weeks ago and she brought the most beautiful earrings to her photoshoot. It pushed me to refresh my neglected jewellery box.

PHOTO OF THE SEASON

This photo I took of Hair & Makeup Artist and Educator Tuhina reminded me of the Tale of Two Wolves:

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”
He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

BOOK

My favorite book recently was “Sapiens”. It’s a grand overview of the history of humankind. I may not agree with the author on all his points, but I enjoyed it a lot, not to mention learned a lot as well. It really made me think about our species, what we’ve accomplished and where we’re going.

TV SHOW

I honestly can’t remember the last time I laughed (out loud!) so much watching a TV Show. Rachel Bloom, the creator and main star of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” is a breath of fresh air. Don’t let the title fool you, in addition to being extremely funny, this show is also really smart. I was surprised to see it was a musical - but the songs are absolutely hilarious, I think “I’m So Good At Yoga” and “Let’s Generalize About Men” are my favourites!

QUOTE

I think this quote says it all. Life can be a crazy ride and the only thing we truly have control over is ourselves and our attitude!

I hope you enjoyed my Spring Favourites and found them inspiring! Wishing you the most beautiful Spring!

Meet an amazing Hair & Make-up Artist and Educator Tuhina! Tuhina wanted her photos to be iconic and timeless. She loves wearing black and gold, so she prepared great outfits in those colors. Props included a director’s chair and of course a make-up artist’s kit!

Meet lovely Christine of Decor by Christine - she’s an experienced Interior Designer and self-proclaimed glamamama! Christine is one of the most energetic clients I’ve ever had and her happiness really translates through the photos.

In addition to offering interior design services, Christine also has an online store on her website with accessories hand picked by her! I fell in love with mugs, blankets and prayer beads she brought to the photoshoot and I couldn’t resist to purchase them for myself.

Christine’s motto is “decorate as you dress”. I love that because her style is nothing short of amazing. She approaches a room like a woman’s outfit: buy great, timeless pieces that have longevity and accessorize with less expensive items! “I’ve always loved how Fashion intersects with Interior Design and frankly I cannot get enough of both!”

A couple of weeks ago I worked with the fabulous photographer Agnes from Pure Studios to take some professional photos of me & I just got back from her studio after the Reveal. I couldn’t be more ecstatic over the images she was able to capture of me. The interior design industry is all visual and that includes pictures of yourself. I am my brand so damnit I better look good, right? With any service company you are basically representing yourself and what your company stands for!

A successful broker, lively spirit, caring friend, simply a lovely woman... We laughed over ripped jeans, shared mind boggling stories and truly enjoyed a sunny afternoon of her photoshoot.

She was nervous about not knowing what to do in front of the camera, about looking awkward, about her smile looking fake…

Thank you for trusting me, Lisa!

Please remember that going through a range of emotions before and during your photoshoot is completely normal. Most women experience: desire, doubts and fears, nervousness, excitement, letting go, having fun… wanting more! It’s my job to capture amazing photos of you that will be cherished forever.

Feeling grateful to have met and worked with wonderful Jane Kristoffy. Jane is an Educational Strategist helping students achieve personal success. She is an elegant, intelligent and classy woman, simply lovely to be around and I’m very happy our paths have crossed.

Jane attended our “Instagram For Your Business” Seminar few months ago and she did her branding process the right way! It started with determining her brand colors. Strong red, navy and light blue were the final choices.

As most women, Jane was also nervous to have her photos professionally done. Please remember this is completely normal! It’s MY job as the Photographer to walk you through the entire process and deliver beautiful and natural photos of you.

Recently I went through Agnes’ entire process: consultation, photo shoot and reveal. Her professionalism and commitment to impeccable work was evident in all sessions, as well as during her email communications and delivery of photos.

I’m thrilled with my photos, and I enjoyed the experience of the photo shoot more than I expected! Hair and make-up, arranged by Agnes for the day of the shoot, as well as a relaxed and supportive atmosphere in her studio, made the photo shoot special. It was an “event” for me! Agnes ensured I was comfortable having my photos taken, offered helpful suggestions, and never rushed the process.

I am new to marketing my business, as well as the use of social media platforms for sharing my brand. During each of the three sessions, Agnes patiently explained strategies for me to use in order to get my brand/services in front of my ideal clients. I appreciated this extra time and expertise.

I can’t imagine a better experience, or better professional to get this job done. On top of this, Agnes is warm, creative, smart person.I look forward to working with her again!

I met Anna very early in my portrait photography career, so it was lovely so see her again after few years. Anna is a Financial Planner & Insurance Broker and she is building a beautiful website that showcases her expertise. She is all about great, personalized service, so she didn’t want stock imagery on her website.

We established that Anna’s main brand color is blue. Anna’s top quality is being trustworthy and knowledgeable, so blue was a great choice! This photoshoot was also a great excuse for Anna to get 3 generations of her family together for beautiful family photos that will be cherished forever.

Hi Agnes,
This was a very important project for me and I wouldn’t think of anyone else I wanted to work with but you. You are an amazing photographer and a beautiful person :-)
I love my family and I am very blessed to have them in my life. It’s because of them I am who I am and where I am. I wanted to take those pictures for a long time and I am so very happy I finally did. The best money ever spent. I will enjoy them every single day. It was a very beautiful experience (as last time). You made us all feel amazing. I keep looking at the pictures and cry every time lol.
Thank you again :-)

Winter Favorites

PureStudiosAgnesKieszMerryChristmas.jpg

A lot of us have a love-hate relationship with this season. I’m no different. I love the atmosphere of Christmas, dreamy snow, mulled wine in restaurants, cozy sweaters. But I also have a hard time with shorter days, less sunlight and being lazy and unmotivated. Here are some of my recent favourites which have helped me enjoy this winter much more!

  1. Red Parka

I love dressing up in winter, but when it’s quite cold, there’s nothing like a great parka. It’s a must for me when I’m travelling, makes me feel safe, comfortable and warm. This Calvin Klein model has plenty of practical pockets. When I’m travelling, I always want to have my documents, my wallet and phone in an inside pocket.

PureStudiosAgnesKieszZurichFri-4.jpg

2. Lavender Goodies: Sleepy Body Lotion & Pure Couture Soap

If you know me well, you know I’m obsessed with good quality lavender products. They are a big part of my bedtime routine. I love using the lavender soap from Pure Couture for my evening shower and afterwards Sleepy Body Lotion on my body. After this ritual, I usually fall asleep in minutes :)

3. Pearl Ear Muffs & Gloves

Cute accessories can brighten a dark winter day. I particularly like these ear muffs because they keep my ears warm without messing up my hair!

4. Photo of the Season: Sexy Sweater Weather

I’ve been wanting to take some sensual photos just for myself for a while now. But as it often is with those things, I kept delaying it. The main reason was gaining a few pounds, as I always do when fall starts. Then I decided I don’t need to look perfect to be happy with a photo of myself. Once the photos were done, my only regret was not having them done sooner.

PureStudiosAgnesKieszNov20-2a.jpg

5. Quote: Women should be Brave, not perfect.

There’s a lot of famous quotes from Billie Jean (one of my favourite tennis icons), but this one is very special to me. Every single day I see women stopping themselves from marketing themselves, from speaking out, from putting themselves out there simply because they’re not perfect (in their head).
If we want to change that for our and future generations, we have to be brave. We have to consciously choose where we put our focus. Nobody will do it for us, we have to do it for ourselves. Seeking validation is pointless because if you’re doing that, you’re already giving your power away. Why not instead focus on what good we can create, how we can become masters of our craft and how we can have plenty of fun along the way.

I hope you enjoyed my winter favorites! Before we know it, it will be spring again.
