5 Iconic Poses for Your Brand Photoshoot (for men)

One of the first comments I get when people call about Brand Photoshoots is that they have no idea what to do in front of the camera.

The good thing is that I got you and I will guide you throughout your photoshoot, you don’t need to know what to do.

Here are some of the iconic poses we can do:

  1. straight to the camera

It’s always a powerful portrait and headshot pose. What makes this photo work is expression. A serious gaze will create a powerful image while a warm smile will make you look approachable.

2. hard at work

Lifestyle photos showing you at work always add authenticity to your branding.

3. wall lean

I’ve always loved this pose and it’s become one of the most requested poses for Brand Photoshoots.

4. desk lean

This is such a versatile pose, depending on your expression it can look very serious or very approachable.

5. in a chair

Using a chair usually takes care of a very common problem during photoshoots: “I don’t know what to do with my hands and legs!”

Penthouse Queen Claudine Montano

I’m so grateful I got to photograph Penthouse Queen Claudine Montano again. The photoshoot took place in one of her beautiful listings, which was the perfect backdrop for Claudine’s photos.

We were even able to create several iconic photos that look like postcards. They show the strength and determination of a woman with our lovely Toronto in the background.

We took countless lifestyle photos in this beautiful penthouse.

Claudine’s personality made the photoshoot even more enjoyable!

It was also the perfect time to update Claudine’s portraits.

5 Important Uses for Your Branding Photography (that most people forget about)

5+Important+Branding+Photo+Uses.jpg

In today’s online world, using your personal branding photos correctly is very important.

Your photos are a strong, visual voice, they should tell the story of who you are and what you do so you can communicate the value of your work and connect with ideal clients.

HERE ARE 5 IMPORTANT USES FOR YOUR BRANDING PHOTOS:

  1. Your e-mail signature

A great e-mail signature goes a long way. It should include your headshot for the purpose of building a connection. People always like to see a face behind a business. Your clients will also remember you better when they see a photo of you.

2. Your business card

Please don’t forget about putting your photo on the business card. If you have a more modern card, you can easily put the information on one side of it and your photo on the other side for a clean look. When giving out business cards, majority of people won’t even remember you unless there’s a photo on the card.

3. Your newsletter

A newsletter is a fantastic way of staying in touch with your clients, sharing value and expertise. It really is a must if you want to have repeat clients. Use a photo of yourself in the footer of the newsletter to better build a connection with your recipients.

4. Your client presentations/Your price list

Present yourself as a valuable professional by subtly using your photo in client presentations.

I really do hope you’re taking the chance that is a value-packed client presentation or price list and that you’re not just sending some naked numbers to potential customers.

Omitting this step is one of the biggest mistakes business beginners make.

Use two photos (one in the beginning of the presentation/one at the end) or just one photo at the end of the presentation.

You can include a short bio that tells the story of your passion!

5. Your Instagram

Please remember that if you want people to remember you and know who you are, it is simply not enough to only show your face in your profile photo.

When building a personal brand, use a photo of yourself at least once every 9/12 posts (preferably 9!).

For high end businesses, use mostly or only professional photos. Otherwise, you can mix both professional and phone photos (still looking nice and on brand though!)

Sylvia

Meet Sylvia Smith, a GTA Realtor with extended knowledge about the investment market! Sylvia’s photoshoot was bright and effortless. Lavender is her favorite colour, so we made it the accent colour for this branding photoshoot. We were very lucky - lilacs were in full bloom the week of Sylvia’s photoshoot!

As with every Branding Photoshoot, the goal was to show Sylvia's professional persona and style. Lifestyle photography done in a tastefully decorated property is always a great idea for realtors. When choosing props, we kept in mind Sylvia's brand colours in order to create a very consistent look.

We had so much fun shooting with Cathy from Pink Avocado Nutrition for her new, beautiful website. Cathy is a Nutritionist & Accountability Coach (that’s a combo to make things happen right there!), a Super Momma and such a ray of sunshine.

I always admire women who went through serious struggles and didn’t let those struggles break their spirit and get them stuck in victim mentality. If you didn’t know Cathy’s back story, you’d never think this energetic, creative, nurturing lady went through so much in her life. I’m always so grateful for the opportunity to work and learn from women like Cathy. It inspires me and helps me with my own struggles. We all go through hardships from time to time and growth isn’t easy!

I started my 40s with struggles. I had a child that was in and out of hospitals, a terminally ill father and to top it off a failing marriage! But these struggles lead me to dig deep and find what I had forgotten - belief in myself. I found a coach and realized I needed accountability. I stopped trying to lose weight, I stopped seeking approval from others & I gained the courage to believe in myself again. I focused on the process and let the results speak for themselves

This photoshoot’s motto could have been “less is more”.

Meet Lara, a Toronto Realtor with great style! It was a pleasure to work with this girlboss. We’re both lovers of organic, minimalist style, so it was an effortless working experience from the start. Black and white with fresh touches of green and pink was the timeless palette for Lara’s photoshoot.

Self marketing is awkward. I dislike most photos of myself & never feel confident putting them out for the world to see... yet it is so imperative to put a face to the name & present myself. I am my business. No face when I’m the face of my work wouldn’t work so well...

How did I overcome that?

Pure Studios

In a nutshell, Agnes makes you feel like you in a way you’re proud to present & share with the world! She specializes in branding photography & has a seamless way of empowering women to not only look great in photos but to feel great. Working with her changed my perspective on self portraits.

At our consultation she said something I laughed off... She told me to make plans for the night of our photo shoot because I’d leave feeling great about myself & wouldn’t want to take my head of done hair & makeuped face home. I didn’t believe her & showed up on shoot day an anxious mess...

I left feeling exactly how she told me I’d feel. On cloud 9, empowered, excited, confident! I was so in awe that I actually LIKED pictures of myself.
